Earlier this week, I watched the pilot episode of Gossip Girl.
They have many cute actors in the cast, none particularly or incredibly talented, but good enough for a cheesy teen show based on an even cheesier book series. The wardrobe is kick-ass with expensive and great-looking outfits.
The show has a great soundtrack, what probably will make me watch the show religiously. The people in charge of soundtrack selection are the same from the (RIP) The OC and they had kick-ass bands. I bet this one is going to be more pop though.
I watched a movie today. It wasn't a great one.
It was Step Up (2006).
It features super cute Channing Tatum as a troubled young man that destroys the auditorium of a posh school of arts frequented by rich, spoiled kids. He gets caught and has to do community service as part of his rehabilitation at the school, because the writers thought that would seem ironically funny (hint: it's not).
Channing's character starts out as a janitor’s helper, but convinces a wealthy girl named Nora to let him be his partner for a dance presentation because her real partner broke his ankle or whatever and can’t rehearse.
They dance, they fight, he quits, he goes back, she makes him quit and the movie ends with a striking dance sequence featuring all the characters. Of course, along the way the two fall in love and have to overcome their differences due to opposing backgrounds and all that shit. There’s even a character death that feels totally unnecessary, because the movie was getting a little too chick-flick with all the dancing and prancing.
